Fucoxanthin (Brown Sea Weed): The newest weight loss supplement

Maybe you’ve heard about fucoxanthin, and it’s suspected benefits for weight loss and fat cell shrinkage.  This amazing supplement, found in brown seaweed, has been shown in laboratory studies to reduce weight in rats by 5% to 10%.  What’s more, this loss of fat cell size occured in the abdomen, the area where excess fat can cause the most health issues.

Fucoxanthin is a natural substance found in brown sea weed (and found in much lower doses in other forms of kelp, or sea weed).  It has long been observed that some societies who consume large quantities of brown sea weed have better health and lower rates of cancer as well as, of course, less obesity (coastal areas of Japan are a prime example of this).  While the reasons for this better health are varied (for instance, lower sugar consumption and more fish consumption), researchers have been increasingly interested in the effects of fucoxanthin as the prime compound in brown sea weed that seems to shrink fat cells and increase metabolism  (also called thermogenic properties).  It has no known negative side effects, and does not have the negative consequences of caffeine.

Recommended dosage of fucoxanthin is still somewhat in debate. It is a newly researched supplement and it cannot be asserted exactly how much to take.  in addition different formulas contain different amounts of the active compound. However, several companies recommend around 5 mg of fucoxanthin 3 times per day.

This site will be adding more info about specific fucoxanthin research studies, and other information about this popular new supplement.
